UDENBERG PRODUCTIONS aka UPfx, is a Norway based special effects company specializing in character design for all areas of the entertainment industry.   

Owned and operated by 20 year makeup effects veteran, Jim Udenberg. (see bio to the right) UPfx uses state-of-the-art material and techniques offering services ranging  from, but not limited to, conceptual artwork, sculpting, mould making, casting, painting, makeup, body and face painting, prosthetic application, airbrush, prop and body parts, and much much more.

UPfx has recently opened a new 250 sq. meter (2690 sq. ft.) workshop just 20 minutes outside the center of Oslo near the town of Asker.   Partnered with physical effects maestro, Rick Marr, UPfx can also supply animatronic effects and a whole new range of services to your production.

Jim Udenberg...

A native of northern Minnesota, I first became interested in makeup at the age of 13. Heavily influenced by films like Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz and just about any horror film I began pursuing makeup as a career.

I began my education at the University of Minnesota in Duluth training in art, photography and stage makeup.  Followed by attending a makeup school in Orlando Florida.  Early student films led to work on television shows such as Sea Quest and Mortal Kombat.

In 1995 Universal Studios Florida created a new makeup department. I was one of 4 original artists hired to start it. Within a year I was chosen to lead the team which in just a few short years, grew to a crew of 15+ makeup artists and hair stylists. During large projects my crew grew to over 40 artists.

At Universal I oversaw a 2000 sq. ft. makeup effects lab and was involved with each project from design, to budgeting, to hiring the crew, to supervising shop fabrication, to test applications, all the way though striking the job.

In 2004 I moved to Norway with my Norwegian wife and daugther where I was the head of makeup effects education at the Nordic Institute for Stage and Studio (NISS) for 6 years.

I now run my own company, UDENBERG PRODUCTIONS, aka UPfx, full time.

I have been featured in Makeup Artist Magazine, Illusion Magazine, and interviewed on NBC's Today Show as well as numerous Norwegian newspapers, magazines, and TV appearances.  Most recently I appear in the hard cover book, Powder to the People written by Igor Myer.
